Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)


In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we at Janitors of Atlanta LLC., (JOA), have implemented additional precautionary measures to ensure the highest level of safety for both our employees and clients alike. As details emerge, we will be monitoring sources for new developments, precautions and best practices. Rest assured we at JOA are very aware of the severity of this matter and are strictly using EPA-approved products.

Should your facility become contaminated with a confirmed case of COVID-19 it is imperative to report the incident to the CDC immediately at the following address: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/reporting-pui.html

Rest assured we at Janitors of Atlanta have devised a remediation plan following CDC and W.H.O guidelines for best procedures and practices in the decontamination of facilities with confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Protocol for our Employees Checking in to Work During the Covid-19 Pandemic


Due to the concerns regarding the coronavirus, we will need to ask our staff a few of questions before work is to commence each day:

1. Ask: Are you experiencing a new onset of coughing, fever, or shortness of breath that is unrelated to allergies or 

other long-term illness? 

• If the answer to this question is NO, go to # 2. 

• If the answer to this question is YES, go to #4. 

2. Ask: Have you been in close contact with anyone who is known to have or have had the Corona virus or symptoms thereof? 

• If the answer to this question is NO, go to # 3. 

• If the answer to this question is YES, go to #4. 

3. Ask: In the last 30 days, have you been in close contact with anyone who has recently traveled to any of the countries identified with widespread or ongoing community spread of the coronavirus? As of June 11, these include China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, and Japan. 

• If the answer to this question is NO, the employee is cleared to work. 

• If the answer to this question is YES, go to #4. 

4. Inform the employee that at this time for their safety and the safety of our clients they are temporarily deemed ineffective for duty. Recommend the employee seek professional medical treatment, they will need to have been asymptomatic for 2 weeks before we can re-evaluate their work status.

Q. How long can the Coronavirus survive on surfaces?

A. According to an interview conducted by Chief Medical Officer, John Whyte and U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams the Coronavirus can survive anywhere between 4hrs to 5 days depending upon the surface. Here are a few commonly found surfaces and the respective contamination lifespans.1

  • Copper – Up to 4hrs
  • Cardboard – Up to 24hrs
  • Plastic – Up to 72hrs
  • Stainless Steel – Up to 72hrs
  • Metal – Up to 5 days
  • Wood – Up to 4 days
  • Aluminum – Up to 8hrs
  • Glass – Up to 5 days
  • Ceramics – Up to 5 days
  • Paper – Up to 5 days

Q. What extra measures are we employing to ensure our employees are protected while in commencement of work?

A. All Janitors of Atlanta employee’s must answer and COVID-19 screening questionaire each day prior to their shift beginning, additionally employee’s cleared for work must wear mask and gloves while on client premises.

Q. What practices should be implemented to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 within the workplace?

A. There are several ways to remain vigilant and proactive in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 and here’s a few “JOA Healthy Building Habits”.

  • Disinfect spray/wipe high contact surfaces frequently (i.e. Doorhandles, phones, light switches, faucets, countertops etc).
  • Make handsoaps and sanatizers readily available throughout your facility.
  • Post signs promoting frequent handwashing and sanitizing as well as social distancing practices.
  • Mandate the wearing of masks or otherwise protective face coverings to help mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19.
  • Direct employees to visit the CDC website for the official coughing and sneezing etiquette and clean hands webpage for more information.
  • Speak with your JOA representative to inquire about additional services available.

 Q. What cleaning products have been approved for use in disinfecting against the spread of COVID-19?

A. The CDC has produced a 6-page document of EPA-approved cleaning products for use against the virus that causes COVID-19, many of which are commonly used commercial products. 2 Please ensure that you follow the manufacturer’s instruction regarding the administration of any product used.
